Meet 10U & 12U Coach Cody

Cody Buchda was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended Sunnyslope High School. During his high school career, he played three years of varsity baseball as a catcher and outfielder, as well as three years of varsity football. During the 2011-2012 season Cody's baseball team won the Division II State Championship against Liberty High School and he was awarded All-Section First Team as a designated hitter.

Meet 12U Coach Buck

Cole Buchda was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He played four years of Varsity Baseball at Sunnyslope High School as a pitcher. In 2020 he graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor's degree. Since 2017, he has been coaching at Sunnyslope High School as the Head Freshman Coach, and in 2024 has joined the Varsity staff as an Assistant Coach. He has been a part of the AMDG Baseball Club for three years and counting. In 2022,  his 13U AAA team finished number one in the state and nation in USSSA rankings. Coach Buck married his college sweetheart during last year's season and they are expecting their first son in October.

Meet 13U Coach Nunez

Coach Michael Nunez is a born and raised Phoenician. His parochial education began at St. Agnes then he transitioned to St. Mary’s High School. After transferring to a few schools to play baseball, he ultimately received his undergraduate degree from Grand Canyon University in Business Administration with a focus in Communication.

Coach Nunez’s playing experience is as follows: First Team All-State, First Team All-Region Junior(2005) and Senior (2006), Juco All-Star game (Chandler-Gilbert Community College), Colt 45’s Collegiate and the Freedom Pro Baseball league. Coach Nunez had the opportunity to sign as a free agent with the Los Angeles Angels Organization, but ultimately had his son Joseph and chose to focus on raising him.

Coach Nunez’s coaching resume stretches back to 2012 when he began coaching at Trivium
Charter Preparatory, where in his inaugural year, they won the CAA Championship. While at
Trivium, Michael coached the AZ Fire Club team and conducted private pitching lessons. In
2015, Joseph Ponce offered Coach Nunez the opportunity to coach at his alma mater St. Mary’s
as the head Junior Varsity coach. After one year, he moved from coaching JV to the Varsity Pitching coach where he would stay for the next three years. During that time, he was also coaching with the ATB Club and the Angels High School Scout team. After his tenure at St.Mary’s, he was offered the opportunity to move from the 4A to 5A AIA Division and join the Cactus Shadows High School team as the Varsity Pitching Coach in 2019. Yet again, after one year with Cactus Shadows in 2020, Coach Nunez received the opportunity to coach with Brophy College Preparatory (BCP) which allowed for more growth from the 5A to 6A Premier AIA Division. He is proud to say this is his fourth year with BCP and the pitching staff has seen year- over-year improvements. This ultimately contributed to BCP’s success in making the postseason for the first time in 10 years. During his tenure with BCP, he has continued his private pitching lessons and joined the AMDG organization. This year he will continue as the BCP Varsity Pitching Coach and head coach for both AMDG 14U AAA and 12U AAA.

All in all, Coach Nunez has worked diligently to be both a man for others as well as help young adults strengthen their skill set and mentality through baseball. He is also a family man with a Fiancee (Mirella) and two sons Joseph (Joey, 15) and Sebastian (2 months) whom you may see at his games supporting the AMDG Family.

Fun Facts
Coach Nunez, is ambidextrous he can throw with both arms.
Dominantly left-handed Coach Nunez taught himself how to throw right-handed in the chase of wanting to play shortstop like Alex Rodriguez. Coach Nunez was able to get free braces for training a player in pitching.

It’s not how you start, it's how you finish. I am a firm believer in what you put in you’ll get out. Baseball is a tool that can change your life forever. What you use it for is up to you. My coaching style is positive reinforcement first and foremost. Patience versus results.

Meet 14U Coach Alan

Born and raised in Jenison, Michigan, Alan Jollineau developed a passion for sports early on, excelling in both varsity baseball and varsity hockey. His dedication and skill on the field earned him titles including all-conference and all-district shortstop during his senior year of high school.

After graduating high school, he moved to Arizona to pursue higher education and new opportunities. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Technology Entrepreneurship and Management. This academic background has been instrumental in shaping his approach to coaching and leadership. For the past decade, he has been dedicated to coaching youth sports, including baseball, softball, football, and soccer.

Currently, he is proud to serve as the head coach of the St. Francis Xavier School Baseball team. As a long-time member of the St. Francis Parish Community, he brings a strong focus on the foundational values of the AMDG organization. His coaching philosophy centers around the belief that the primary duty of a youth coach is to build a child's confidence. He firmly believes that with self-confidence, all other measures of success will naturally follow. This confidence is a valuable trait that players can carry with them throughout their lives, helping them to achieve their goals both on and off the field.

Meet 14U Coach Grove

Coach Matt Grove attended high school Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland, Oregon. He was the 2000 All-City Selection for Pitcher. He attended college at Concordia University (NAIA) and was a pitcher for three years (2002-2004). He played on the first team in school history to make it to the NAIA World Series in 2004. Coach Grove has a bachelor's and two master's degrees from Concordia and Grand Canyon University. He has taught junior high physical education in Alhambra School District since 2006.

Coach Grove coached at various high schools from 2006-2016 (Phoenix Christian, Maryvale, and Lincoln in Oregon) with most of his focus on pitching. He stepped away to coach his son's teams. Coach Grove has coached with AMDG Baseball Club since 2019. He is on his second round of teams with AMDG. His first team finished with a four-year record of 144-80-10 and was the first AMDG team to gain a majors classification. Coach Grove also conducts pitching lessons at the SFXAA facility.
